BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) An award-winning country singer with ties to Vermont is battling cancer.
Jo Dee Messina, whose hits include "I'm Alright" and "Bye, Bye" says her diagnosis means she's postponing her 2017 show dates after Oct. 7.
The 47-year-old didn't specify the kind of cancer she has but says she's "working closely with a team to explore all options."
Jo Dee Messina is the daughter of a longtime school principal in the Northeast Kingdom. And she was a student in Burlington for a year before making it big in country music.
