Keurig Green Mountain announces layoffs

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) Keurig Green Mountain has announced a new round of layoffs.

The company confirms to WCAX that it laid off 53 employees. Thirty of them are in Vermont. Officials say the layoffs are part of its efforts to streamline its organizational structure. Employees are being given a severance package.

Keurig makes those single cup coffee brewers and coffee pods. It has 5,000 employees in five states. It was founded in Vermont in 1981.
