The Sullivan County Humane Society posted a photo to its Facebook page of the one carrier they say 14 cats had been crammed into.
The shelter says it got a call from Claremont Police Nov. 12 about 14 adult cats that had been abandoned in below-freezing temperatures for more than a day. They say one was dead already and another died shortly after. They say all the cats were covered in filth, underweight and hypothermic.
The Valley News reports Dwaine Lord, 64, and Crystal Lamonda, 42, have been charged. They'll be in court in January to face 14 counts of animal cruelty.
