MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) A fire prompted the evacuation of National Life's Montpelier offices late Thursday afternoon.

Officials at the company say the fire in the biomass heating system led to the evacuation of around 1,000 workers.

The boiler room fire was limited to the south side of the building and did not effect state offices.

There's no word yet on the cause of the fire.
