New partnership to protect veterans from scams

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) A new partnership aims to help veterans avoid getting scammed.

AARP Vermont is joining forces with the Fraud Watch Network and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. It's part of Operation Protect Veterans, a campaign to warn former servicemen and women about fraud schemes specifically targeting vets.

A new survey from the Fraud Watch Network shows veterans are targeted by scam artists twice as often as the rest of the public.

Eva McKend spoke with AARP's Dave Reville about the new effort to protect those who have served.
