North Country schools win state funding for pre-K

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-New York, has announced $5 million in state funding to support prekindergarten in 16 high-need school districts.

The money will allow nearly 1,000 children to enroll in high-quality pre-K.

Funding was awarded to school districts based on the quality of the application, district and student need, and to maximize the total number of children served in prekindergarten programs.

Districts in our region that got the funding include:

Ausable Valley - $522,240
Elizabethtown - $124,480
Indian River - $355,179
Peru - $281,600
Saranac - $515,760
