Patricia Giddings, 22, of Au Sable Forks, took a plea deal for second-degree manslaughter.

Police say she and her boyfriend kept her toddler, Ellyah Elvidge, penned in his room with a piece of plywood blocking the door. Last August, the boy died after getting his head stuck in a notch in the plywood.

Giddings' boyfriend, Brandon Bushey, 24, is also charged in the case.
