MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) New safety assessments are happening at schools across Vermont. It's a request from Governor Phil Scott following the alleged school shooting plot at Fair Haven Union High School last month.
Administration officials say state and local police have started meeting with school leaders to do safety site assessments.They are looking at emergency planning, training, policies, security systems, and safety practices.
Most schools will be assessed before the end of the month. The Vermont School Safety Center will report to the Governor by mid-April.
