Sewage released into the Lake Champlain basin

BURLINGTON, Vt. Two million gallons of sewage have been released into the Lake Champlain basin.

That's according to the program director at Lake Champlain International. The areas of release include St. Albans, Rutland, Vergennes, Burlington, Middlebury, and Montpelier. The releases, were posted on the Department of Environmental Conservation's website on the Vermont Watershed Management page. The releases happen regularly to manage facilities - however according to LCI officials they can have negative consequences for the public.
