Shelburne taking comments on new town plan

SHELBURNE, Vt. (WCAX) Shelburne residents can weigh in Thursday on their town's future as officials seek comments on the new town plan.

There are a few proposed changes that Shelburne residents could see. One is a focus on more green space in town, especially in spots visible from the road. Officials say no changes are planned for Route 7.

They are also proposing stronger language to protect natural resources including wetlands and animal habitats.

The plans have been in the works since last year and now town officials are ready to hear from residents.

"On one level we would like them to tell us what they make of the current draft of the town plan -- it's posted on the website -- but we also want people to tell us what their general vision is for the town," said Dean Pierce, Shelburne's director of planning & zoning.

There will be two informational meetings Thursday at the town center complex. The first is from 3 to 5 p.m., and the second is from 7 to 9 p.m.
