SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. A South Burlington resident is behind bars after being charged with two counts of burglary.

WCAX showed you the surveillance video of Eco Bean getting broken into last week.

South Burlington Police say 34-year-old Robert Villa threw a large stone through the restaurant’s front door and stole money Sunday.

An officer says he recognized Villa from the Eco Bean video, and police arrested him Friday night on Quarry Hill Road.

When investigators searched Villa’s home, they found evidence to suggest he also broke into Champlain Farms on Williston Road.

Police say Villa took $2,700 in cigarettes from that store Thursday.

"That's how a lot of these get solved,” said South Burlington Cpl. Ron Bliss, “By the public recognizing them, our officers recognizing them. When we ask for the public's assistance, it has been a great help in the past and this is the prime example of it."

Villa is being held at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility. He's due in court Monday.

Bliss says there’s often more thefts, burglaries, and larcenies during the holiday season.
