State police investigate ATV fatality in Adirondacks

BLACK BROOK, N.Y. (AP) State police say an all-terrain accident in the Adirondacks has claimed the life of a northern New York man.

Radio station WIRY in Plattsburgh reports troopers say they found the injured man around 9 p.m. Tuesday on a road in the Clinton County town of Black Brook, in the Adirondack Park's northeast corner. He has been identified as Michael Bombard, 55, of AuSable Forks.

Emergency crews treated him at the scene before taking him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Troopers say Bombard was driving an ATV when it left the road and went into a ditch before hitting a tree. Bombard was ejected and landed about 10 feet from the vehicle.

Police say their investigation is continuing.
