'Summer by Rail' tour visits Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Victoria Prinicipato and Caitlin Boyle are interns from Washington, D.C., and on an epic 10,000-mile, 22-city, 10-state trip across the U.S.

They spoke Wednesday morning at Union Station. They say Burlington was the first city because they believe Vermont is on the verge of a golden age of passenger rail. At each stop, they're studying how people use different modes of transportation to get around.

"The train brought us right to Essex Junction, which is about a 20-minute car ride away. Ideally, we would have the train stop right here in Burlington, but that's to come in the future hopefully. So, for now, we're just going to keep going on our journey," Principato said.

They will be writing about their "Summer By Rail" Tour on their website.
