The future of Burlington Telecom remains uncertain

BURLINGTON, Vt. Negotiations to form a joint venture between the two bidders vying to take over Burlington Telecom have gone nowhere.

We told you Friday that Keep Burlington Telecom Local and Ting, a Canadian-based company, could not reach an agreement to take over BT together. KBTL officials say they met with Ting representatives several times this past week to try and make the deal work. The community group stresses that they want to continue working with city leaders moving forward.

Mayor Miro Weinberger says he's disappointed the two parties failed to reach a compromise.

"This has been an unpredictable process. It's hard to say where it goes from here, but again we'll be working to bring this to a responsible and quick resolution as I think the people of Burlington want us to at this point," said Weinberger.

The City Council meets Monday night and plans to reopen the bidding process to include the two semi-finalist bidders who were passed over earlier this month.
