BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) More help from our region is heading to the Irma disaster zone.
A five-person jump team with members from New Hampshire and Vermont is set to arrive there early Wednesday morning. They will be deployed for two weeks.
The jump team is a quick response team with various skills. Members can respond to a disaster and be of help as needed. Their first task will be to provide support for emergency shelters.
And with millions of people across Florida and Georgia without power, other states-- including Vermont-- are sending help. Green Mountain Power says 30 line workers, supervisors and mechanics are heading to Georgia, where 1.5 million people do not have power. They expect to be there for weeks.
