Will other states follow Vermont's lead on gun laws?

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Gov. Phil Scott signed new gun restrictions into law Wednesday. Will other states follow suit?

Many are grappling with what to do in the wake of the Parkland school shooting.

Our Darren Perron spoke with Scott Pattison, the executive director of the National Governors Association about that.

"We have 50 governors and it's hard to get consensus on the gun issue because it's so controversial but they're talking about how do you make schools safer, what kind of changes can you make whether they involve guns or not to try to decrease deaths decrease school shootings or shootings elsewhere," Pattison said.

Pattison says some states will enact similar laws to the news ones in Vermont but that states in the west and south are unlikely to see legislation make its way through the process and ultimately pass.
