WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) Williston firefighters are asking for help from local residents with hydrants during this snowstorm and all snowstorms.
They say if you see a fire hydrant covered in snow, clean it off and clear a three-foot radius around it. They say hydrants are their number one tool when putting out a fire. And they can get water on fires faster if they have easy access to the hydrants.
"Time is the first critical piece but the other aspect of it too the reason we ask for that three-foot area around that fire hydrant is because it allows us to do our job safer," said Williston senior firefighter Prescott Nadeau.
They say hydrants are no help if they can't access them.
