MIDDLEBURY, Vt. Dogs took their owners for a walk, and swim, Saturday to support pets in need.
The MIddlebury event, called Woof-Stock, is Homeward Bound Animal Rescue's largest fundraiser of the year. Participants started out this morning with a 1 mile walk which included about 100 dogs and just as many people. After the walk the dogs got to go for a swim at the Memorial Sports Center. All breeds were welcomed to support the cause.
"Woofstock has a fundraising goal of $25,000. Last year we exceeded our goal, and I'm very hopeful that we may do so again this year. We had a tremendous turnout and as we said about twice the number of registrants," said Jessica Daniow, Executive Director of Homeward Bound.
Currently the rescue houses 140 animals but cares for over 800 every year. They use the funds to pay for vaccinations, spaying and neutering, food, and other items needed to care for the animals until they are adopted.
