Hoopcats tame Black Bears in Lamb's return

Thursday, February 28th

The UVM men's basketball team closed out the regular season last night with a workman-like 74-62 win over Maine in Bangor. The Cats finishing with a 15-1 mark in conference play and a 25-6 record overall.
The big story coming out of the game was the return of sophomore star Anthony Lamb. After missing two months with a fractured foot, Lamb played eleven minutes...five in the first half, six in the second...scoring five points and grabbing three rebounds.
With the Cats set to open the America East playoffs with a quarterfinal meeting versus this same Maine squad Saturday night at Patrick Gym, the questions become how quickly the team will be able to increase Lamb's minutes and how smoothly the team will be able to work him back into a rotation that was able to go 15-1 without the reigning conference rookie of the year.
Of course, the Cats are a much better team with a healthy Anthony Lamb, so hopefully his return serves as a boost of energy as Vermont enters the biggest three game stretch of the season with a potential return trip to the NCAA Tournament in the balance.
