CHESTER, Vt. -- The Northfield girls and South Royalton boys won team state titles on a day that featured a number of strong individual performances at the Division Four track & field championship meet Friday at Green Mountain Union High School.
On the girls side, Arlington's Tess Belnap tied a D-4 state record in winning the 100 meter hurdles. She also won the 300 hurdles, long jump and was part of a winning 4x400 relay team.
Green Mountain's Avery Prescott won the 100 meters and set a new D-4 record in the 200. And Jaylin Collins of Richford dominated the throwing events, winning the discus and setting a new D4 state record in both the shot put and javelin...
On the boys side, Owen Pelletier of Rivendell won the long jump, triple jump, high jump and 100 meter dash.
Danville's Riley Denoff ruled the distance races, winning 800, 1500 and 3000 for the second year in a row.
And Connor Lambert of South Royalton claimed victories in the pole vault, javelin and the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.
