Albany, New York - July 6, 2009
There wasn't much to celebrate in the New York State Senate over the holiday weekend.
The weekend ended without a power sharing deal that would end the four-week gridlock. Both the Democrats and the GOP-led coalition are refusing to recognize each other's leaders. The evenly split Senate factions met for three minute sessions on Sunday without debating or passing any bills, including some that expired during the standoff. Now Governor David Paterson says he'll use a statewide tour to turn up the heat on senators in an effort to end the gridlock.
