Two Seriously Injured in ATV Crash

Montgomery, Vermont - July 6, 2009

Two people had to be airlifted to Burlington after crashing their ATV Sunday evening.

The accident happened on Enosburgh Mountain Road in Montgomery. Police say 29-year-old Travis Denton, of Richford, was driving an ATV with 24-year-old Abby Mayhew, also of Richford, as the passenger when Denton lost control and went off the road. Both were thrown from the vehicle and struck a large rock. Neither were wearing helmets.

Denton and Mayhew were airlifted to Fletcher Allen Health Care with serious head injuries, and one is reportedly in critical condition. Police say alcohol appears to be a factor. The accident is under investigation.
