Rutland HS Student Charged With Making Counterfeit Cash

Rutland, Vermont - July 6, 2009

A Vermont high school teen is accused of making counterfeit money.

17-year-old Jeffrey DeJarnette, of Rutland High School, was cited into court, after police say another student tried to use one of the $20 counterfeit bills DeJarnette made at the school store. Investigators say DeJarnette used a printer to make copies of a bill. Police say they found almost $300 worth of phony bills. DeJarnette admitted to Channel 3 News that he made the bills, but he says he never intended to spend them. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
