Harold Porter
Burlington, Vermont - October 20, 2009
Police say a man with a lengthy record-- including sex crimes-- is the person who tried to grab a UVM student off the street last month.
The attack happened September 9 on Colchester Avenue in Burlington. Police say a man tried to drag the student into his truck and was stopped by a resident who heard her screams for help. The man took off in a light colored pickup that was seen on a CCTA bus security tape.
Harold Porter, 45, of Swanton, now faces multiple charges. Police caught up with Porter thanks to a car dealer who recognized the description of Porter's truck because he'd sold it to him. It turns out there were only 11 trucks like that in Vermont narrowing the police search for a suspect.
