PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - Vermont Democrats are organizing to help their New York counterparts get out the vote in a special congressional election.
Voters in northeastern New York's 23rd congressional district go to the polls Tuesday in a special off-year election that's drawing national attention. The race pits Democrat Bill Owens against Republican Dede Scozzafava and Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.
Vermont Democratic Party Chairwoman Judy Bevans is asking her state party members to take part in a get-out-the-vote effort on Sunday.
They'll be taking the 9:23 a.m. ferry from Grand Isle across Lake Champlain to the district where they'll join their New York counterparts in going door-to-door.
