ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A helicopter pilot for the New York State Police is taking command of an aviation unit within the New York Army National Guard.
Col. Mark Stryker will take over command of the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade during a ceremony being held this morning at the National Guard facility near the Albany airport.
Stryker is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. A married father of 3 from Alexander in western New York, he has flown helicopters for the state police since 1986.
He's taking over for Col. Michael Bobeck, a Buffalo native who's moving on to the National Guard Bureau in Washington.
