Burlington, Vermont - November 10, 2009
A Saint Michael's College alum is back in Vermont showing off his new movie.
Bill Kerig played hockey at St. Mike's. After graduating in 1984, he became a competitive mogul skier, and now, a filmmaker. He directed a new movie called The Edge of Never. The documentary follows a teenager on a mission to ski the same big mountains in France where his extreme skiing father died in an avalanche.
Kerig beams, "I'm really excited to be in Burlington." He continues, "It was 25 years ago I left Burlington. I was supposed to go get a real job and I didn't. I went skiing. 25 years later, I'm coming back with a movie set in the ski world. So for me, it's a homecoming."
The Edge of Never has already played in other ski capitals and at film festivals. Bill Kerig says the movie should appeal to skiers and non-skiers alike, because of its focus on family as well as sports.
Kerig is leading a question and answer session about the movie after it shows Wednesday night at the FlynnSpace in Burlington.
Tickets to that screening are $20 for adults, $15 for students, and $10 for children. Kerig promises sponsors will give some filmgoers ski-related gifts.
