ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Republican advisers in New York say former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who many have been pushing to run for governor in 2010, is instead leaning more toward a run for U.S. Senate
Two advisers told The Associated Press Thursday that Giuliani has been indicating that the U.S. Senate might be a better fit for him than the New York governor's office.
A third adviser said Giuliani is expected to give Rick Lazio, the only announced Republican in the Senate race, early notice of his decision.
None of the advisers were authorized to speak for Giuliani or the state Republican Party and spoke on the condition of anonymity.
A Giuliani spokeswoman denied a Thursday New York Times report that cited unidentified people saying he had decided not to run for governor.
