Vt. orchestra director facing child porn charge

Associated Press - November 20, 2009 9:15 AM ET

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - The director of the Windham Orchestra is facing charges he possessed child pornography and that he tried to lure a minor via electronic means.

The Brattleboro Reformer says 50-year-old David Runnion was cited Thursday after an investigation by police in Brattleboro and Keene, N.H., that began last May.

Brattleboro police say Runnion had been soliciting a child under the age of 16.

Brattleboro Detective Eric Johnson says Runnion's alleged behavior was not discovered through a "sting" operation in which a police officer presents him or her self on the Internet as an underage person.

Johnson says what he calls the "actual victim" was discovered through another case.

Runnion referred all questions to his attorney.
