NH charities benefit from restaurant owner's award

Associated Press - November 23, 2009 6:15 AM ET

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Five organizations are getting thousands of dollars from the owner of the Common Man restaurants and the New Hampshire Electric Co-Op.

Alex Ray is making the donations to celebrate an award he received form the National Restaurant Association. The group recently honored Ray and his staff for participating in hundreds of community service projects and for his practice of reimbursing workers for such service.

The electric co-op agreed to match the donations, and officials will gather in Concord Monday to announce how much is going to the Easter Seals Veterans Count program in Manchester, the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, Webster Place Recovery Center in Franklin, the American Cancer Society's Making Strides campaign and the New Hampshire Food Bank.
