The Sheriff in Windham County is being deployed to Afghanistan.
Sheriff Keith Clark, who is the former police chief in Bellows Falls, is part of the Vermont National Guard and will join 1,500 troops headed to Afghanistan next year.
Clark is up for re-election next year and will run for County Sheriff even though he will be deployed during the election.
Captain Robert Larkin will head the Sheriff's Department when Clark is gone.
