NORTHFIELD, VT - Year in, year out, the Primelink Great Northern Shootout is one of the best college hockey tournaments in the country. This installment, which opens Friday at Norwich could turn out to be the best in the event's twelve year history. All four teams are ranked in the national top ten. As hosts, the Cadets, ranked tenth, draw the at large team, which this year in number seven Wisconsin-Stout, Friday at 7pm at Kreitzburg.

The opening game Friday afternoon at four pits third ranked Plattsburgh against number nine Middlebury. The Cardinals are on a tear. 6-1 overall, Plattsburgh scored 17 goals in a pair of road wins this weekend and bring plenty of confidence into their meeting with the Panthers.

Middlebury opened its schedule this past weekend with a tie at Tufts and a win at Conn. College. The Panthers are the defending Primelink champs, winning on their home ice a season ago, but with Plattsburgh getting a month head start to their season, Middlebury knows they'll face a tough challenge trying to get past the Cards Friday.
