Police are searching for a couple who robbed a Newport store at gunpoint.
Investigators say a man and a woman walked into the East Main General store just before 9 p.m. Wednesday. The man pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash from the register-- then told the clerk to get on the floor while they left.
Dogs tracked the robbers to Subway-- where police say a getaway car may have been waiting.
The male suspect is described as 6' tall. He was wearing a black hoodie and mask. He was carrying a stainless handgun believed to be a revolver.
The female suspect is described as 5'6" tall. She was wearing a gray hoodie and mask.
