Burlington, Vermont - November 30, 2009
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders will vote against the reconfirmation of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
Sanders has long been a critic of the fed, and of Bernanke, who Sanders says is partly to blame for the country's economic crisis.
"His job was to give us the warnings about the need to change policies on Wall Street and he didn't do that. So I don't hold him personally accountable for all the economic problems in this country but we need a new direction on Wall Street," said Sanders.
Bernanke could face tough questioning during his reappointment hearing this week. Bernanke defends his record, saying the Fed played a major role in "arresting the crisis."
