New Hampshire authorities are investigating the severe beating of an inmate at the state prison in Berlin.
It happened Friday morning. The prisoner, whose name has not been released, needed to be air-lifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators say they are trying to determine how many people were involved in the assault.
