Rutland, Vermont - July 30, 2010
A Rutland man has been missing now for five days.
Daniel Goldstein was last seen Sunday afternoon wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and sneakers. He is described as 5'10" tall, 160 pounds, with brown and gray hair.
A neighbor said she talked to him before he left his home that night and she described him as very depressed. Goldstein suffers from bipolar disorder. He has a history of wandering off, but family members say this time is different.
"This is by far the longest he has ever been away," said Jerry Goldstein, his father. "He's been missing for never more than a day or so, and he's always come home, or showed up at a friend's. Occasionally he has been picked up by the police and got the help he has needed."
"We haven't received any word or any sightings of him. He virtually left his apartment with nothing except the clothes he was wearing," said Rutland City Police Ofc. Michael Warfle. "How can a person survive out there?"
The family is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone whose information leads to Daniel Goldstein.
