Gov. Peter Shumlin
Montpelier, Vermont - March 4, 2011
Two months into his first term, Gov. Peter Shumlin, D-Vermont, is taking a vacation.
His press secretary Bianca Slota says Shumlin left Thursday morning and is out of state until Tuesday night. Slota says she does not know where the governor is vacationing. We asked Administration Secretary Jeb Spaulding where the governor is. Spaulding said he does not know, but he has his cell phone if he needs to contact the governor. Spaulding also did not know if the governor has his security detail with him.
Shumlin's break coincides with this week's Town Meeting recess for the Legislature.
While Shumlin is out of state, Lt. Governor Phil Scott, R-Vermont, is the acting governor.
