Firefighter Charged With DUI After He Stops To Help Motorist

Montpelier, Vermont - March 28, 2004

A volunteer firefighter, who reported a possible drunk driving accident, ended up being arrested himself.

Police say William Glennon of Waterbury stopped at an accident scene in Montpelier and called police to say the driver might be drunk.

Police say when they arrived on the scene, the driver of the car that had gone into the ditch was uninjured and sober. But they processed Glennon for D-U-I and ordered him to appear in court to answer the charge.
