Three UVM Students Face Charges After Pot Protest

Burlington, Vermont - April 27, 2004

Three University of Vermont students arrested last week during a marijuana protest on campus will face criminal charges.

Two sophomores are charged with disorderly conduct and a freshman is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. They will be arraigned in June. U-V-M also plans to pursue some type of disciplinary action against the students.

For years April 20th has been a date when students protest marijuana laws.

About 600 students turned out for the event, but only a few smoked marijuana in public.
