Vermont State Treasurer Jeb Spaulding is the new president of the National Association of Treasurers.

He was elected to the position at the Association's annual meeting and will begin serving a one-year term on Jan. 1, 2009. The Association is the leading voice for state treasury issues in Washington, D.C. Spaulding is currently serving as the senior vice president. The Association recommends treasury policy to federal officials.

Spaulding has served as Vermont's State Treasurer since 2003.
