TUNBRIDGE, Vt. (AP) - Vermont's three major gubernatorial candidates are back on the stump.
Gov. Jim Douglas, Democratic challenger Gaye Symington and independent Anthony Pollina traded proposals and barbs on taxes, the economy and how to crack down on sex offenders Friday during a freewheeling debate at the Tunbridge World's Fair.
Symington and Douglas saved their criticism for each other, while Pollina seized on their differences as symbolic of what he called the partisan gridlock gripping Vermont state government under the Republican governor and the Democrat-controlled Legislature.
The debate, the second in three days, was broadcast live by radio station WDEV.
