Today will be like 2 different days in one. The first half of the day will be nice, with some sunshine and high temperatures in the mid-70s.
But there will be trouble starting mid-to-late afternoon as an active cold front sweeps through the region from west to east with a line of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be strong to severe with potentially damaging wind gusts, lightning, hail, and locally heavy downpours.
Once the front goes through, skies will clear overnight. Then we are looking for a delightful stretch of weather, starting on Thursday and lasting through the weekend into the start of next week. It will be cooler on Thursday, but after that, a warming trend will bring high temperatures back into the 70s, and even low 80s by the end of the weekend.

Partly sunny; afternoon/evening thunderstorms, some strong
