#3 Vermont Falls 5-4 to #1 Boston University in Frozen Four


WASHINGTON, D.C. - Boston University's Colin Wilson goal off a face-off at the 14:19 mark lifted the No. 1 Boston University Terriers (34-6-4) past No. 3 Vermont (22-12-5) 5-4 in the second national semifinal of the 2009 Frozen Four.

The Terriers scored the first goal of the game on a tip-in goal from Wilson at the 11:19 mark of the opening period. BU would take a two-goal lead when Jason Lawrence added another with 3:33 left in the period.

Wahsontiio Stacey scored Vermont's first goal of the game on a wrist shot at the 3:50 of the second period to cut the Terriers' lead to one, 2-1. Justin Milo evened the score with a power play goal at 9:04 and Josh Burrows put the Catamounts ahead with an unassisted goal 45 seconds later to make the score, 3-2. Boston U's Vinny Saponari scored an equalizer on a man up opportunity at 18:39 of the second period.

Drew Mackenzie gave Vermont a 4-3 lead on a power play goal from the point at the 9:40 mark of the period. Brian Roloff and Milo picked up assists. The Terriers Chris Higgins would knot the score at 4-4 at 13:06 in the period, and Wilson would put away the game-winner just 1:13 later.

The Terriers held a narrow 28-27 overall lead in shots. Vermont goaltender Rob Madore posted 23 saves.

Vermont completes the 2008-09 season.
