A former teacher pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexually exploiting several students at Bradford Elementary School. Richard Foster, 53, did not say very many words in court today other than his guilty pleas. However a parent of one of the victims DID speak out.
"Why did I not see this man was the boogeyman?" asked one mother.
WCAX chose not to release the woman's name in order to protect the identity of her child. He was one of three students who Foster took advantage of while they were under his supervision.
"I can only pray that my son will be OK," the mother said. "I can only pray that his heart and mind have been healed."
Foster is already serving a 25 year federal sentence for charges related to child pornography.
Wednesday he pleaded guilty to six additional counts including aggravated sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to prosecutors, Foster lured the boys into his bedroom for the purpose of both videotaping, and engaging in sexual acts. Under a plea deal with the state, Foster was sentenced to 25 to 40 years on the state convictions. However he will serve that time concurrently with the federal sentence he is already serving. Therefore, it is not known if Foster will ever do any state time behind bars once he gets out of federal prison.
"I hate you. I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. You bring out the worst in me. I am not able to control this. I just want to let go of this," the mother told Foster.
WCAX spoke with a grandmother of one of the victims before the hearing and she said that she is ready for her family to move on. However judging by the testimony, the wounds will not heal quickly.
