Jonathan Bruno
John Baptie
Rutland, Vermont - December 10, 2009
Closing arguments are expected Thursday at a Rutland murder trial.
Jonathan Bruno, 25, is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly slashing the throat of John Baptie, 24. It happened two years ago in a downtown parking lot. Police say the men were arguing over a $40 drug debt.
Bruno told jurors Thursday morning that he thought Baptie was armed with a pipe, even though several witnesses dispute the claim. Bruno also claims he was high on crack cocaine and has mental issues. Bruno faces 20 years to life, if convicted.
