Lyndonville man arraigned in estranged wife's murder

St. Johnsbury, Vermont - January 7, 2010

A Northeast Kingdom man was arraigned Thursday for allegedly killing his wife.

Benjamin Berwick, 49, of Lyndonville, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. A judge ordered him held without bail. Police say he stabbed Anna Berwick, 45, outside the Green Mountain Mall in St. Johnsbury last week. Benjamin Berwick was found a few hundred feet away in the woods suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
