Drug bust during routine traffic stop in Windham County

Vernon, Vermont - February 16, 2010

A traffic stop turned into a drug bust in Windham County.

At about 12:30 Monday morning Vermont State Police stopped a car on Interstate 91 in Vernon. The two people inside were traveling from New York City to Vermont. The driver, 23-year-old Evan Cox of Springfield, was immediately taken into custody for violating conditions of release.

Police seized the vehicle and say a search turned up 5.2 oz. of Ecstasy, half an ounce of crack-cocaine and $5,800. Both Cox and his passenger, 20-year-old Britney Parson of Cavendish, now face two felony drug charges.
