Warren, Vermont - July 20, 2010
The Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation got a donation Tuesday from the Stars and Stripes Air show.
Jim Parker Air Shows put on the event on July 3. It featured everything from hanger planes to sky divers. Ticket sales went to the foundation.
Guard Commander Maj. Gen. Michael Dubie accepted the check. The amount exceeded everyone's expectations.
"We also had several other sponsors and donors contribute in a big way as well to total $38,585 to go to the charity," Parker said.
"It says that the citizens of Vermont care about the people that are deployed and they care about their families and that means a great deal to us," Maj. Gen. Dubie said.
The money will be used to provide financial assistance to National Guard members and their families.
