SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) - Two Vermont National Guard members serving in Afghanistan will return to their civilian jobs as correctional officers at the Springfield prison after they get back from overseas.
The two were among five Department of Corrections employees who felt they were discriminated against or passed over for promotion last year after announcing they were going to Afghanistan.
Vermont Public Radio says another National Guard member will not be getting his job back and another found a different job. The case of the fifth correctional officer is still pending.
The U.S. Department of Labor helped negotiate the settlement for the two officers who will be getting their jobs back.
Human Services Secretary Rob Hofmann calls the settlement fair.
