A closed Middlebury manufacturer will auction off the contents of its plant today.
Monahan Filaments, formerly known as Specialty Filaments, closed its Middlebury plant last September because of a decline in business, growing competition and rising operating costs. About 100 people lost their jobs.
Monahan made bristles for brushes, brooms and other products. Today the public will get to check out the Chase Street shop for items they may want. Everything from drill presses to telephones to scrap steel is up for bid.
Doors open at 8:00 this morning and bidding starts at 10:00. Winners must pay in full today.
